Biography of Amanda Schirmer

Amanda Hope Schirmer was born in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota.

Raised in several different cities along the East Coast states, she gained most of her education in the Mechanicsburg area of Pennsylvania, studying Honors Fine arts at Cumberland Valley High School and graduating from Kutztown University of the Liberal and Performing Arts.

After receiving a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art/studio art in 2010, Amanda moved to the Champlain Islands of Northwest Vermont to pursue her career as an artist. With a passion to make a living out of creative works, she is inspired by the natural beauty, serenity, and the bucolic vistas that Vermont has to offer. She is involved in the local community art programs and successfully showing and selling her work throughout the Burlington and Champlain area.

Versatile in many mediums, Amanda's primary focus is large-scale abstract expressionistic acrylic paintings with layers upon layers of random yet controlled explosions of shapes and clutter. Her goal is to pleasingly overwhelm the viewer with the energy of color, movement, and excitement within a painting. Inspired by the outdoors, wood burning has become a primary medium. Her wood burns are realistic natural subjects with elements of abstract geometric design.

She has contributed to many Fundraising auctions in her local community and continues to create commissioned works while supporting local artists.

You can easily find Amanda at the North Hero House Inn & Restaurant in North Hero, Vermont. Located in the Champlain Islands. There you'll recognize her other passion as a Food Entrepreneur in Fine Dining and Hospitality.
